The purpose of our study is to get more knowledge about how moral dilemmas affect Social workers in their work. This because we find that a big part of social work involves ethic reflections and that is why we find it important for Social workers to have knowledge about how they should and can think and act in these situations. Ethic statements exist for Social workers to use in their work but we haven?t found any guidelines for concrete situations and that?s why we decided to study this area. Questions we want to answer are how do the Social workers define moral dilemmas in social work? How do the Social workers deal with moral dilemmas in their work? How do moral dilemmas affect Social workers in their work? This is a qualitative study with interviews from seven Social workers from one social service office although they are from different units.

"Förut visste jag inte riktigt vem jag var..." : Om projektet Ungbos betydelse för ungdomar och socialsekreterare i Kalmar kommun

The purpose of this essay was to examine what Ungbo in Kalmar has meant for the adolescent from their point of view and to examine the Social workers opinions of Ungbo.My questions were: What expectations did the adolescent and the Social workers have on Ungbo? How has these expectations been fulfilled? What expectations does the Social workers think the adolescents has on Ungbo? How is the impact of involvement for the adolescents when planning the living environment in Ungbo? What changes has Ungbo brought to the adolescent? What changes has Ungbo brought in the work of the Social workers? What does Ungbo mean for the adolescent? What does Ungbo mean for the Social workers and what experiences does the Social workers have on the importance of Ungbo for the adolescents? How has the teamwork been working around the adolescent during the time at Ungbo?The questions were answered by asking four adolescents and two Social workers with their experiences of Ungbo. My study showed that Ungbo was of importance for the adolescents that has been a part of the project, but it is also important in the work of the Social workers. The adolescents noticed a change in them selves after their stay in Ungbo. The Social workers were positive to Ungbo but they felt a need for others resembling activities in Kalmar..

Teoretisk kunskap i en praktisk verklighet: en intervjustudie om socionomers och arbetsledares kunskapssyn i socialtjänstens arbete med barn och unga

The purpose of this thesis is to examine how Social workers perceive the concept of knowledge within social services, particularly within children and youth services. Our goal is also to study the employer's expectations and demands on graduate Social workers. The main questions we address in this thesis are; What knowledge is seen as useful by employers and graduate Social workers working in social welfare offices? To what extent does university education bring useful knowledge to the work being done by Social workers? What practical knowledge is there in the workplace for Social workers to learn? When recruiting, what expectations does the employer have of graduate Social workers? What challenges are there with recruiting a graduate social worker?We have interviewed six Social workers and four employers in the social childcare division in different municipalities in Skåne region, Sweden. We have used epistemology in our analysis.

Vad påverkar valet av insats? : Om socialsekreterares bedömningar i missbruksärenden

The purpose of this essay was to investigate affecting factors concerning Social workers in social services assessments with cases of abuse. We wanted to see if Social workers in social services tend to make different assessments of the need of substance abusers care. Our survey was carried out as a vignettesurvey with complementary interviews as means to deepen the outcome results.Our survey showed that the included Social workers in social services in some senses make different assessments when it comes to choice of effort put in for the client. We shed light on different factors and circumstances, which could bear meaning for the Social workers in social services assessments. Examples of factors were the Social workers in social services age, gender, working experience and attitude towards substance abusers..

Familjehemsvård - En studie om kontakten mellan familjehem och handläggare på socialtjänsten

The aim of this study was to understand the contact between foster homes and Social workers, by doing a comparison of the Social workers and the foster homes experiences of the cooperation that is between them. We started from three main questions to get an answer to our aim, how the foster homes and the Social workers experience the organization of the foster care in the Social Service as an impact of the cooperation, what does the foster homes and the Social workers experience as a important fact of a successful placement and finally, how does the foster homes and the Social workers experience the supporting and controlling contact that is between them. To get our results we based our study on interviews whit four foster homes and whit four Social workers. The analysis was based on one theoretical perspective, Skaus (2007) analytical approach for power and help. As a conclusion we have found out, that the organization of the Social Service has significance for the contact between Social workers and foster homes.

The purpose is to examine Social workers view of vulnerable children and their needs. We are also interested to know how Social workers think and discuss concerning the help these children are given. Our main questions in our study are; How do Social workers define vulnerable children? Which needs do vulnerable children have according to Social workers? Which opportunities and difficulties might there be in the decision making when trying to help these children? Which public authorities do Social workers cooperate with? Which opportunities and difficulties do Social workers find in the cooperation?This study is based upon interviews with ten Social workers in the social childcare division in different municipalities in Skåne region, Sweden. Our results are explained and analyzed with a qualitative approach through different aspects of power- and Human Service Organization theories.

Damned if you do, damned if you don´t

The purpose of this paper is to explore the social worker?s perspective on working for the government as a professional in care of children, in relation to the family's right to self determination. The essay's empirical material is gathered from qualitative, semi-structured interviews with Social workers who work with children and youth in communities and districts in Skåne and Stockholm City, Sweden. The analysis was conducted in line with theories of social constructivism. The results and analysis show that the interviewed Social workers did not believe that the state has too much power over the citizen.

Jag har svårt att tro att man vill vara utanför samhället : Socialarbetares upplevelser av integration i arbetet med ensamkommande barn

The purpose of this paper was to examine Social workers' experiences of integration of unaccompanied children. We aimed to study which factors in the individual and the community Social workers experience affect the integration and how they, based on their understanding, work to promote integration. The essay has a phenomenological approach and focuses on the Social workers' own experiences of the phenomenon. The empirical data was obtained from qualitative interviews conducted with five Social workers, all administrators in cases involving unaccompanied children. The result shows that the Social workers feel that the desire to integrate is the most important presumption that must be present in the unaccompanied children.

In Sweden the social assistance from a historical perspective, has been a part of the social legislation, since the 18th century. In that time called poor relief. Through the centuries this has established the social assistance we have today. With focus on the child, we have attempted to illustrate how the Social workers consider the child perspective when they are dealing with the social assistance. We wanted to get a view of how the social worker reasons about needs the children have and how they can see that the benefit has been provided for.

Samverkan mellan lärare och socialsekreterare : En kvalitativ studie i två kommuner

The intension of this study is to investigate the interaction between teachers and Social workers in two diffrent countys. The study is focused on how teachers act upon suspicions when there are children at risk and what kind of support the teacher gets from Social workers. Another importent question is if the teachers know what kind of rules regarding to confidentiality and if it would be better for the pupils if there were no confidentiality.To get answers to my questions, i have interviewed teachers and Social workers in both countys.In this study I assume that the power has three dimensions and that there are four levels of interaction.Due to the law about confidentiality the social worker has the power over the teachers. Because the law about confidentiality it is difficult for teachers and Social workers to interact.If the teacher want help from social services, she or he must call the social worker because the social worker will not call the teacher. If the social worker want to help the teacher and give her advice, the social worker can do that without breaking confidentiality.

We analyzed our empirical material with the theoretical terms; justice, autonomy and intern role-conflict.

Möjligtvis stressad? En kvalitativ studie om stress på ekonomiskt bistånd, en enhet på Socialtjänsten

The purpose of this study was to examine and illustrate whether employed Social workers, working with supplementary benefits at a social service office, felt stressed. If so was the case, we wanted to investigate if this stress that they felt had any effect on their clients. This study was based on eight qualitative interviews, of which four was with Social workers and four was with clients. For a better understanding of our results we used Karasek & Theorells demand-control-support model.The study reveals that the Social workers do feel stressed, but they only do so in periods. They declare that they would like to have more time for their work assignments, the meetings with the clients in particulate.

How do the students in school of social work studies and Social workers view upon professional social work?Method: Qualitative study with qualitative interviews.Conclusion: Social work is a low status profession. How to increase the status of social work is not easy.

Socialarbetares genusmedvetenhet i bedömningar av behov och insatser : En kvalitativ vinjettstudie

The aim of this essay was to study if Social workers have a gender awareness in the social work they perform and if it appears in the assessment of needs and intervention. A qualitative vignette study with four Social workers who handle adult- and addictive clients have been performed. Gender theory is used to interpret the empirical results. The results of the study show that Social workers doesn´t see any differences in the clients situation, or make any different assessment of needs depending on if the client is a man or a woman. Social workers also propose the same interventions to men and women.
